This README details the contents of the data archive for "Role of chemical 
production and depositional losses on formaldehyde in the Community Regional
Atmospheric Chemistry Multiphase Mechanism (CRACMM)" Skipper et al. 2024.

This data archive includes jupyter notebooks used for figures in the main text
of the paper and most of the data needed to recreate the figures. The archive
also includes source code files and scripts used to run CMAQ simulations
used in the paper. Finally, the archive includes model-observation paired
data from the CMAQ post-processing program sitecmp for formaldehyde, PM2.5, O3,
and various other parameters. Further details on the contents are given below.

Directory structure and files:

cmaq_simulation_files
    CRACMM1_annual - CMAQ source code and runscript for a 2019 annual
                     simulation using CRACMM1
    CRACMM2_annual - CMAQ source code and runscript for a 2019 annual
                     simulation using CRACMM2 with all chemistry updates
                     incorporated
    CRACMM2_summer_bidi_dep - CMAQ source code and runscript for a 2019 summer
                              (June-August) simulation which is identical to
                              the CRACMM2 simulation except that deposition is
                              updated to add bidirectional flux of HCHO and to
                              add a dry deposition based on RH-dependent leaf
                              wetness


main_text_figures
    data - intermediate data files needed to recreate main text figures; see
           figure notebook files for more details
    figures - figures as .tiff files
    cartopy_cmaqfile.py - script containing cmaqfile class which is used to
                          obtain spatial information from CMAQ file metadata
                          that is needed for creating spatial plots using the
                          cartopy python package
